Nonfiction November Week 1: My Year In NonFiction

It's time for NonFiction November!  I look forward to this every year and am excited to read other posts about nonfiction reads and add some great books to my TBR.

Week 1: (Oct 31-Nov 4) – Your Year in Nonfiction : Take a look back at your year of nonfiction and reflect on the following questions – What was your favorite nonfiction read of the year? Do you have a particular topic you’ve been attracted to more this year? What nonfiction book have you recommended the most? What are you hoping to get out of participating in Nonfiction November? (Katie)

I feel like I read a decent amount of nonfiction, but usually it averages out to roughly one nonfiction book per week for the year.  Despite my best efforts to boost my numbers,  I think this year is nearly the same.

I've read several fantastic nonfiction books - there's no way I can limit it to just one favorite.

These four are ones I thoroughly enjoyed and have recommended to others.

The Palace Papers by Tina Brown is an inside look at the royal family. I have been a big follower of the royals since I was a child, so there weren't any big reveals for me, but there is plenty of juicy info that kept me interested.

I Haven't Learned That Yet by Shauna Niequist is part memoir/part self-help/inspirational essays about her family and their move away from her hometown to New York City and the way their lives have changed.

The Boys by Ron Howard and Clint Howard is a book I listened to on audio. Both men take turns narrating and although Clint is less familiar to me, I liked hearing about the very normal childhood these actors had and the way their family functioned in raising two very successful Hollywood actors.

Both/And by Huma Abedin is well written and provides an interesting perspective into Hillary Clinton's campaign, which Abedin worked for. I liked reading about her childhood and family and her own marriage.

I can't wait to check out the other posts for week one. Visit Doing Dewey the host of  Non Fiction November this week to see some other bloggers best nonfiction in 2022.

Shauna's book sounds interesting to me since she was ripped out of her life to go to NY and I was ripped out of mine to go to Arkansas. LOL I think she got the better deal as far as residences go, but lemme read the book and find out.

One per week is impressive, congrats on a great year of reading, and thanks for your rec’s.

I don't think I read much more than one nonfiction book per week! Maybe lately, as I've moved away from half and half fiction reading, but not typically. I can never pick just one favorite either :)

I find it interesting and unusual for parents to raise TV-star children in a normal environment. The hero of my hometown, Alvin, Nolan Ryan, attempted to do the same thing with his kids.

Thanks for sharing your favorites.

I read Palace Papers and Revenge, but didn't review them. Ron & CLint Howard would be interesting to read about.

Thanks for sharing these! I was intrigued by The Boys - a normal Hollywood upbringing sounds like an oxymoron!
