Sunday Salon: A Quick Vacation ReCap

We've been back from vacation for a week now, and it truly seems like summer is flying by.  It does feel good to be home, even though I need to really use what's left of the time I have off of work to get some of the projects done on my to do list.

Before I start in, though, I'll share a few photos of our trip:

Our fun started in Detroit Lakes, MN, where we stayed with good friends at their family cabin.  Fishing, paddle boarding, boating, kayaking, games of Pitch and camping awards, fireworks were the highlights. We'd love to go back.

We moved on just a few days later to Missoula, MT, where we found some good treats at the farmer's market, shopped the downtown area, tried out a few restaurants, hung out at my brother-in-law's house, made time to run every day, and relaxed.

And the third leg of our trip took us to Canmore and Banff, Canada, where the mountains were absolutely beautiful (pictures can't really do them justice).  A gondola right in Banff, visiting the hot springs, eating a Beaver Tail (a very tasty flat pastry), hiking to Lake Agnes and eating a snack at the tea shop in the mountains, and finally spotting a bear the night before we left were trip highlights.

And then we spent 23 hours in the car driving home.  Whew! It is good to be back. We are already trying to decide where our vacation 2019 will be.  There are so many amazing places to visit.

Recommendations?  What great trips do we need to take?

Your girls have gotten so big! They are just beautiful and thanks for sharing all the great pictures! I love the mountains and we'll get to Banff one day. As to great vacations - you know, the Pacific Northwest is wonderful in the summer. It's a long way from you, but Oregon is great and Portland and Seattle are not that far apart. Just saying.

Vacation, what's that? I haven't had a real vacation in so many years due to the hub's work situation. It's kind of horrible to not have time as a family. The cabin sounds like fun. I always find that when you are taken out of the city it's so easy to be amused by a board game, a nice walk outside, etc. Simple and lovely.
