TLC Book Tour: The Odds of You and Me

The Odds of You and Me is Cecelia Galante's latest novel, a crossover book, appealing to both teens and adults.

Bird has been on parole for the past few years for writing bad checks. Now after she has made her last payment in restitution and has just thirteen days left on her sentence, she is confronted with a decision that could ruin her chances of a new beginning.

When Bird was just nineteen (she's twenty-five now), James, a co-worker, helped her out.  Now Bird recognizes him from the news which is broadcasting constantly about how James had been arrested for something that happened in a bar fight and managed to get away from police.  He is armed and dangerous.  And that's exactly who Bird runs into when she stops at the church to pick up a sweater her mom forgot.  James is hiding out in the choir loft and in need of help. Bird tries to forget about James, but she can't. And she can't forget about how he was there for her that one time, either.

I was totally invested in this story from the beginning. Galante's writing is easy to get into.  I appreciated the main storyline, but the subplots of Bird wanting her own apartment, the issues of parenting a small child, living with your parent when you are an adult, and the issue of religion also keep this story moving along.

Upon doing a little research online, I realized that I have read other books by Galante and enjoyed them all as well.  I am thankful that TLC Book Tours reminded me of this author, and happy to have read her latest novel.  I have plenty of people I can recommend this book to as well.

Thanks to TLC Book Tours for providing a copy of this book for my review. All opinions expressed are, as always, my own.
