Tuesday is the first official day of work for th 2025-26 school year, but I'll be working all day tomorrow as well. I've got plenty to do at all four bulidings I'm in charge of this year and right now it seems a little overwhelming.
After a summer of reading some great books, this past week my mind has wandered any time I've tried to pick up a book.
There are still lots of books I haven't written about, and I tried to read some backlist titles as well over the summer months, but Too Old For This is my most recent five star read.
Too Old For this by Samantha Downing is a book I devoured on vacation. I loved this one so much. Lottie moved to a small town and changed her name decades ago after being accused of killing her husband. No one has ever managed to discover her true identity, but when an investigative reporter shows up at Lottie's house and stars asking questions for a documentary she is working on, Lottie doesn't have many options. And when people start showing up asking questions about the young woman's visit to her, Lottie finds herself resorting to desperate measures to keep her identity a secret.
Despite Lottie's ruthlessness, I found myself quite enjoyig this character. This is a fun mystery, and there's humor as well as suspense. If you like the Finlay Donovan mysteries, this is a comparable title.
