Monday Mini-Reviews on Tuesday

I'm a little off track this week because I was part of a blog tour yesterday. I could have skipped my Monday post altogether, but I've read some good stuff lately that I want to share.  As the end of the year is rapidly approaching, I feel myself slowing down in my reading, but at the same time, I am also really trying to cram in some of the great 2018 releases that I've heard so much about.

Clock Dance by Anne Tyler is a title I've heard mixed reviews about.  And yet, I picked it up and devoured it in the span of one day. Tyler's story takes place during various time periods, so we meet Willa as a child whose mother has left them after an argument with her father, as a college girl, as a married woman, and then later in life as she briefly moves in with a woman her son once dated to help her recover from an injury.  There's not a lot of action in this book, but I like Tyler's writing and her character development.

I'll Be There For You: The One About Friends by Kelsey Miller is the type of book I love to listen to.  Friends was a show that first aired when I was in college.  I looked forward to Thursday evenings and Must See TV, and although there are certain seasons I loved, I eventually stopped watching.  Listening to Miller's analysis of this show has made me start watching it again and I'm enjoying seeing it with fresh eyes.

One Day in December by Josie Silver -  I've had a copy of this stashed away since Book Expo in June and after hearing good things I decided this was a book I wanted to read before 2018 ended.  It is enjoyable and lovely and a sweet little romance. I've heard the criticisms and while I do understand them and can see why readers may not love this book, for me, I am fine believing that Jack and Laurie are meant to be together.

I've still got shopping to do, some decorating to get done (I'd at least like to get out the stockings before Christmas) and plenty of school related work to get done this week, but I am hoping that somewhere in the busy-ness I can find time to get to a few good books.
