TLC Book Tour: Lighthouse Beach

With three more days of school left, all I can think about is enjoying lazy summer days at the pool with a book.  And Shelley's Noble's newest, Lighthouse Beach, would be perfect to take with me for such an afternoon.

Sadly, this book was devoured in the evenings after school and not at the pool or the beach.

But despite the lack of the perfect reading location on my part, Noble's novel does provide a picturesque backdrop - a small coastal Maine town - where this story takes place.

Lillo has been invited to the wedding of her childhood friend, Jess.  The two haven't been in touch for years, but Lillo decides to attend.  She quickly meets up with two of Jess' friends that are also attending: Diana and Allie.  Although the three don't know each other well, they become close quickly when all of the women catch Jess' fiancee with a waitress a few nights before the wedding.

Jess' overbearing parents are insistent she go through with the wedding, despite her fiancee's cheating, but these women come to her rescue, taking her away to Lighthouse Beach.  Each woman has things in their past that they need to work through.

There's Diana who seems to have it all together as a successful businesswoman, Allie whose husband has died, and Lillo who has some secret that she doesn't want revealed.

Their time at Lighthouse Beach is supposed to be relaxing, a place for Jess to muster up enough strength to withstand her parents demands, but it also ends up being a place where all of these women must deal with their issues.

Noble's novel is a perfect summer read- but it would be good at any time of year.  The women and their relationship is a definite strength to this story, as is the setting and the way in which each woman's issues are revealed.

I haven't read everything by Noble, but I have yet to read something she's written that I haven't enjoyed.  This novel is one I could hand to a lot of women, confident they would enjoy it.

Thanks to TLC Book Tours for providing a copy of this book for my review.  All opinions expressed are, as always, my own.
