We had a snowy weekend here in Iowa and I was happy to not have to rush off anywhere on Saturday morning. The Other Widow was a perfect novel to enjoy while I was relaxing in bed watching it snow outside.
Crawford's latest novel tells the story of two women in love with the same man. Dorrie and Joe begin an affair despite both being married to other people. Then one night as the two drive home together, Joe tells Dorrie he wants to end things. Just a few minutes later, the car loses control and smashes into a tree.
Joe's widow can hardly believe her husband was having an affair. She always believed he was such an honest person, not capable of deception. Now Karen is left to grieve the loss of her husband while wondering why her husband's airbag didn't go off. And, to make things worse, she feels like someone is watching her.
Insurance inspector Maggie Brennan is busy trying to determine what really happened the night Joe was killed. There had just been a large insurance policy taken out on Joe, and his death so close to when this policy was taken out is suspicious.
I loved how Crawford weaved the stories of these three women together. I was invested in this story from the beginning and enjoyed trying to determine who was out to get Dorrie and Karen. This is a fast mystery that was just perfect for me this past weekend. I have also read The Pocket Wife by Crawford which I enjoyed a great deal.
Anyone who enjoys a good mystery should definitely give Crawford's books a try.
