After The Crash

Michael Bussi's novel is a fast read, full of suspense and one I was easily sucked into.

This novel has been translated into English from French and reminds me a bit of some other suspense novels I've read in the past, such as The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson and The Snowman by Jo Nesbo.

Eighteen years have passed since a plane crash in the Jura mountains killed all onboard, except for an infant who miraculously survived the crash unscathed. Through the journal entries of Credule Grand Duc, the investigator hired to determine the identity of the infant who has worked on the case for eighteen years, the various twists and turns in the plot are discovered.  He hands the journal off to the sole survivor who has now reached adulthood as he plans his own suicide, and takes one last look at the newspaper article that reports the accident.

As the journal entries are read, it is hard to determine who the infant is with any certainty.  Two infants of nearly the same age were on board the ill fated flight, and without DNA testing since this occurred in 1980, other less scientific and accurate means are used in the investigation.

Now a surviving brother from one family, and a surviving sister from another are looking for the truth and the younger sister they have both believed was their own for so many years.

There is plenty of suspense, along with quite a few twists that had me up reading well past my bedtime last night. I'm anxious to read more by Bussi and have quite a list of friends that will enjoy this novel.

I'm planning on reading this one next. Am hearing some good things in the last few days about it. And the opening paragraphs are quite tense - for a nervous flier anyway. Plus you had to mention The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo? That hooked me too. LOL

I really want to read this one, continue to hear great reviews. I wasn't a fan of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo so that paused me a little.
