Some Winter Treasures from Harper Collins

I am always so happy when I see a box of books from Harper Collins waiting for me to open. Seriously, they publish wonderful childrens books that I am lucky enough to have the chance to review on this blog.

A few weeks ago, I received a box of some holiday and winter themed books.

Here are the latest:

1. Enzo and the Christmas Tree Hunt by Garth Stein - A sweet story with a little adventure thrown in featuring Enzo and Zoe as they look for the perfect Christmas tree and get lost along the way. There are lots of dog books out there already, but this is another one definitely worth purchasing.

2.  Flat Stanley on Ice created by Jeff Brown- Flat Stanley is one character I introduce first and second graders to each year. They are still at a point where most students enjoy listening to the chapter book I read, but can't read it to themselves.  Flat Stanley on Ice is a great easy reader that kids will enjoy and feel proud of being able to read it all by themselves.

3.  I'm Cool by Kate and Jim McMullen - I remember falling in love with I Stink by Kate and Jim McMullen, but I didn't realize that I'm Cool is now the eighth book in this picture books series of sort.  This book features an ice mover - or a zamboni to me.

4.  Splat the Cat Christmas Countdown - for the youngest readers - this board book includes something to touch and feel on each page. (My nine year old was intrigued by this and enjoyed it as well!).  This is a cute holiday story in board book form that older siblings may enjoy reading as well since it features a familiar character.

5.  Little Elfie One by Pamela Jane - a cute story about Christmas that incorporates rhyming and counting. This one will be perfect for my kindergarten classes.

I know it's only the beginning of December, but I'm ready to start thinking about spring releases soon. How about you?
