Book Tour: Maybe In Another Life

Before my vacation a few weeks ago I had reviews scheduled to post for quite a while. Or so I thought. So, imagine my surprise when I checked my calendar yesterday and saw that I was scheduled to review Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid the following day.

This could have been a disaster. But it wasn't.  Maybe in Another Life is a book I read - and wanted to read- in just one day.

Hannah moves back home to LA after several short lived stays in a few cities, the latest being the Big Apple.

Upon her return home, as she moves in with her best friend Gabby and Gabby's husband and plans to look for a job and put down some roots, Hannah is confronted with two very different versions of reality.

In one version Hannah goes home with her ex-boyfriend, Ethan, from a party they are attending.  The two pick up their relationship where they left off nearly a decade before.

In the other version Hannah decides to go home from the party with Gabby and her husband. While they are taking pictures, enjoying a photo op in the city at night, Hannah is hit by a drunk driver and critically injured. She spends weeks in the hospital recovering and becomes interested in one of her nurses.  Ethan visits Hannah, but because of Hannah's decision to leave with Gabby, he ends up hooking up with someone else at the party.

The two stories play out in alternating chapters, showing how one decision greatly impacted and altered Hannah's life.

This is a fun book, and yet one that will leave readers thinking about their own decisions and how they impact the future.

Instead of going to bed early last night because I have to work today, I was up til nearly midnight finishing Maybe in Another Life simply because it was too good to put down and I had to see how things ended for Hannah.
