As I met up with friends last week for lunch, we were busy talking about the books we had been reading. At that point, I had read eight nonfiction books. That's a pretty big number for me, which explains why my fiction reading has been a little slower.
Banyan Moon by Thao Thai is the most recent Read With Jenna pick. Jenna doesn't usually steer me wrong, and this is no exception. I loved the story that centers around three generations of women. All three women take turns narrating, and of course, there are some secrets. I enjoyed all three women's voices and the way they struggled really communicating with each other. Moms the world over can probably understand this to some point. d
Evil Heart by Linda Castillo is the fifteenth book in the Kate Burkholder series. I love these mysteries, although I do always chuckle a bit to myself that these murders occur in a community where violence is rare. I doubt I remember the exact details of this installment, but as always, it was enjoyable, and I'll be awaiting the sixteenth one.
I'm off to Montgomery, AL, to visit a variety of Civil Rights monuments and museums for the week. I have several books packed up to enjoy while on the plane and during my layovers and am hoping that this whirlwind trip is fun and educational.
