Bea grew up with a mother who was always scheming and deceiving men. Now Bea is on her own and looking for a husband. She sets her sights on Collin Case, a somewhat boring - but wealthy-bachelor. Collin falls madly in love with Bea, but although she may care about Collin, Bea is in the relationship for the stability it provides and the status it will grant her.
Collin's best friend, Gale, seems to be on to Bea, and Bea spends her time trying to keep one step ahead of Gale. Chapters sprinkled throughout shed light on Bea's childhood and the many different relationships her mother engaged in, and the duplicity she became accustomed to.
While Bea isn't entirely likeable, I also found her intriguing and a product of the childhood she had. I liked the twists this story took, the way things were wrapped up, and reading about the wealthy.
Do you need a guilty pleasure read? This is worth picking up.
