TLC Book Tour: This Is Not Over

Holly Brown's This Is Not Over was a perfect book to read in one sitting.  Psychological thrillers are the thing right now, and this novel fits in that genre nicely.

Dawn and her husband enjoy taking trips together, renting  homes in the locations they visit.  After they return from their most recent trip, she is frustrated that her security deposit isn't being returned in full because of a stain on the bedding she knows she never left.

Miranda, the owner of the home Dawn has rented, seems to have the perfect life.  She makes some extra money with her vacation rental while her husband has a job as a surgeon.  The one dark spot in her picture perfect life is her grown son who is a druggie. Although her husband kicked him out of their home and their lives, Miranda has been using some of the vacation rental money to help her son, Thad.

The two women begin an email exchange about the security deposit and the bedding that escalates.  I will admit that the way this minor problem escalated seems unbelievable and had a hard time buying into it.  In addition, Dawn and Miranda aren't very likable and I felt myself rolling my eyes frequently at the communication they had with each other.  However, there are a lot of ridiculous stories in the news every day, so perhaps This Is Not Over really isn't all that out of the realm of possibility.

Both Miranda and Dawn alternate narrating the chapters, so readers are able to get a better glimpse at the motivations and thought process behind their actions.

The strength of this novel was it's ending, which threw in some twists and turns and surprised me a little bit.  Overall, even though there were a few things I didn't like, This Is Not Over was a good way to spend a snowy Saturday.

Thanks to TLC Book Tours for providing a copy of this book for me to review.  All opinions expressed are, as always, my own.

I read another book by this author and liked it pretty well. I've read a couple of reviews of this one and it seems like one I'd like, possibly with reservations. May not rush to it. We shall see.

This is definitely the kind of book to read in one sitting - I wouldn't be able to put it down until I figured out how everything turned out.

Thanks for being a part of the tour!
