I've had a love for boarding school novels since I was a fifth grader. I had a pen pal from England who attended a boarding school (we still keep in touch all these years later) and the Scholastic book order started providing a new installment in The Girls of Canby Hall series in each month's book order. I fell in love with Canby Hall, the boarding school in Greenleaf, Massachusetts, where Faith, Dana and Shelley met each other and struggled through some initial problems before becoming best friends as well as roommates.
I'm still in love with a good boarding school novel.
Elin Hilderbrand's newest book, written with her daughter Shelby Cunningham (who attended boarding school herself) was a fantastic boarding school book that hit just the right spot to satisfy my love of this type of story.
There is a fairly large cast of characters - both students and staff- and although some of the stories center around teens, this is not a YA novel. I loved the New England campus setting, and I loved all the drama.
And best of all, I loved that at the end of the novel everything was not tied up neatly. There will be a sequel coming which I am already excited about.
If you like a campus novel, feel like fall is the perfect time to read this type of story, enjoyed Gossip Girl, auto-read anything by Kristin Hannah, you can't go wrong with this one.

I've been interested in this book and am glad to hear what you thought about it. Think I will try it. How cool that you are still in contact with penpal from way back! By the way, been thinking about you as you deal with and adjust to your job and the issues that are new. Take care of yourself!
