It's hard for me to focus right now. I've got school on the brain. So this past week or two I've had a hard time reading anything. I've gravitated towards some suspense books that are easy to get into and hard to put down.
This book has been on my kindle for a long time and it was easy to get sucked in to the story. The former president has been accused of murdering a woman he was having an affair with and his best friend, Rob, a D.C. litigator is the only person he trusts to plead his innocence. Rob's past and the president's continue to twine together making the case complex - as well as full of twists and turns.
I wish I would have read this one sooner, closer to the time my mom and friends read it, because the ending left me with some questions and my mouth hanging open.
Years ago I read Shari Lapena's first book, The Couple Next Door, and despite rave reviews I just was not impressed. I pretty much decided I didn't need to read LaPena again. But I've given her a second (and third) chance and really have enjoyed the other two books I've read by her. She Didn't See It Coming begins with a fender bender, and within the first chapter Bryden, a young wife and mother, is missing. Her husband Sam calls the police who begin investigating and the "perfect" life may not be quite so perfect. Secrets are revealed and no one is as innocent as they appear.
I devoured this one this morning. Such a fast read that I couldn't put down.
I'm hoping that even though this first week will be busy, I'm still able to find some time to read for fun.
