Blast From the Past: April 2012

April 2012 seems like an awfully long time ago in some ways, and yet, when I look back at books I read ten years ago, some of them seem like I read them just a little while ago.

The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily Danforth has been made into a movie recently, but I loved this book.  Cameron Post's parents die leaving her to grow up with her ultra conservative aunt and grandmother...and Cameron likes girls.

The Snow Child by Eowyn Ivey - this is a Pulitzer Prize nominee which would normally mean I don't like it, but there were some parts of this book that includes magical realism that I enjoyed a lot.

Quiet by Susan Cain - I still think about this nonfiction book about introverts.  I think every adult should read this one -especially educators - since it does seem as though we often appreciate the students who are more vocal.

Schooled by Gordon Korman - I think this was the first book I read by Korman and I have continued to read almost all of his books since then.  A great middle grade author.

Bringing Up Bebe by Pamela Druckerman - I used to love to read parenting books (as my kids have grown up, I find it rather depressing that many of these books no longer really apply to me) and this one about how the French raise their children was pretty fascinating.

Have you read any of these titles?  What were you reading back in 2012?
