I'm still reading some really great books right now. I did feel like I was in a little bit of a slump last week. I flew through Greenwich Park, and just didn't know what to pick up next. I have so many books waiting for me, but it ended up taking me all week to read one book, which is never a good thing.
Greenwich Park was exactly the right book for a cold, winter weekend.
I've read a lot of psychological thrillers over the past several years. The publication of Gone Girl and Girl on a Train seemed to have sparked a whole host of this type of book to get published. Most are forgettable after a bit. Greenwich Park is one that will stick with me for a long time.
Helen seems to finally have everything she's ever wanted. She and her handsome architect husband live in a nice house, and finally (after several miscarriages) they're about to have a baby. But things begin to change from the moment she meets Rachel at a prenatal class. Helen is lonely and Rachel seems to want to be best friends with her. There are some red flags as some of Rachel's stories don't seem to quite add up, but by the time Helen wonders what Rachel's motives are, she can't seem to get rid of her.
And then Rachel goes missing.
This book is full of twists and turns. I was proud of myself for figuring a few things out, but it turns out that there were still a few things I didn't see coming. I am hoping I can get a few of my friends to pick this one up because I'd love to discuss the ending.
If you're in the mood for some suspense and have a few hours to spend reading, this would be a great story to pick up.

OK, I'll give you my true opinion about this one. I did finish it, but that protagonist (Helen) made me so anxious (because she was so anxious) that I'm having to take a break from these 'psycho' thrillers for a bit. Ha! I'm catching up on some more traditional mysteries with police presence, etc. Immersed in a JD Robb book with Eve and Roarke right now. Glad you liked this one though. It's good writing, just a bit much for me at this time. I've read a bunch of these books in the last couple of years. As I said, time to take a break.
