Nonfiction November was such a fun way to highlight some great nonfiction reads. My TBR list has grown a ton and as I look ahead to 2019, I see there are great non-fiction books soon to be published as well.
1. An American Summer: Love and Death in Chicago by Alex Kotlowitz - this is the only 2019 release that I've already read. I love Alex Kotlowitz and am always happy to read his books. This is an interesting look at one summer in Chicago and various people affected by gun violence.
2. Together: A Memoir of Marriage and a Medical Mishap by Judy Goldman - I love a good memoir, and this is one written by Goldman telling the story of her husband's outpatient procedure for back pain that left him paralyzed, testing their marriage and the life they had created.
3. Survival Math: Note On An All-American Family by Mitchell Jackson- a timely book that explores race and class, addiction, gun violence - all centering around Jackson's family.
4. Where The Light Enters: Building A Family, Discovering Myself by Jill Biden - I'll read any political memoir I can get my hands on. Biden's story is one that has always intrigued me.
5. Outer Order, Inner Calm: Declutter and Organize To Make More Room For Happiness by Gretchen Rubin -Rubin's books are fantastic and I continue to reference Better Than Before years after last reading it. I'm looking forward to more advice from this woman.
6. Parkland; Birth of a Movement by Dave Cullen - Cullen's book about Columbine was extremely interesting and well chronicled. I am expecting the same with Parkland. The topics he writes about are certainly not uplifting.
7. The Enchanted Order: The Miraculous Power of Reading Aloud in the Age of Distraction by Meghan Cox Gurdon - this book is one that pretty much reaffirms everything I believe about reading to children (and even adults)
8. Joy Enough: A Memoir by Sarah McColl - McColl's story of the time in her life surrounding the collapse of her marriage and her mother's cancer diagnosis.
9. The League of Wives: The Untold Story of the Women Who Took On the US Government to Bring Their Husbands Home by Heath Hardage Lee- the story of a group of women who battled to bring their husbands home from Vietnam
10. No Happy Endings by Nora McInerny - McInerny's first book was a memoir I picked up at BEA in Chicago a few years ago. I absolutely fell in love with this book and her devastatingly sad story.
I know I'm just hitting the tip of the iceberg with this list. I can't wait to see what other nonfiction books are coming out in 2019! If you have something I should add to my growing list, drop me a comment.
