I'm kicking of 2017 with two great reviews in one day. Sisters One, Two, Three by Nancy Star is my second TLC Book Tour title today, and a great novel of family secrets.
Ginger, the oldest sister, is having some troubles with her teenage daughter, Julia. At firs the troubles appear to be fairly normal teen-age stuff: staying out late, a boyfriend Ginger doesn't really enjoy. But soon, Julia and her boyfriend, Nick, have packed up and move to a different city to be street performers with strict instructions for Ginger and her husband not to contact them. As if Julia doesn't have enough on her mind already, her mother's memory is failing and must move to a nursing home.
Although Ginger has two sisters, dealing with their mother seems to fall on her shoulders. Mimi is busy with her three sons and big extended family on her husband's side. And Callie, the youngest sister? Well, Ginger doesn't even know where she is. When she asks her mother about it, she changes the subject.
The chapters alternate between the present day, and a summer spent on the beach when Ginger and her sisters and younger brother were children. During their time at Martha's Vineyard a tragedy occurs which devastated the family. That summer changed the course of their lives and as it is slowly revealed in this novel, readers come to realize how much of an impact the of the summer had on the entire family.
I loved this novel. At the end of the book an interview with Nancy Star is included that I found very interesting, and gives some background on how she chose to write a novel about family secrets. This was a fast read, was very easy to get into, and entirely entertaining from beginning to end. I haven't read any of Star's previous novels, but see that she has four others that I can choose from as well.
Thanks to TLC Book Tours for providing a copy of this book for my review. All opinions expressed are, as always, my own.

Getting to hear from the author at the end of a novel is always a treat for me - I like getting that insider insight.
Thanks for being a part of the tour!
