TLC Book Tour: The Fire By Night

I love reading books set during World War II, and it seems there will always be more to say about this time period. The Fire by Night is a women's fiction novel that focuses on the friendship of two women separated during the war, facing some of life's biggest challenges by themselves.

Jo and Kay met and became friends while in nursing school.  As the United States enters World War II, the two women are sent to different locations to help the war effort. Jo is sent to Europe while Kay is off to the Philippines.

Both women must find some inner courage to deal with the many challenges and struggles they encounter while nursing wounded soldiers.  Their hope is to be reunited again after the war, although there are times when they question if they will survive to see that happen.

I've read many World War II stories, but none focusing on the nurses who were involved. Messineo does a great job of shedding some light on this aspect of the war and providing yet another perspective to this time period.

The Fire By Night is a fast read that will capture readers attention from the first page.  I can see book clubs enjoying it, as well as historical fiction readers.

Thanks to TLC Book Tours for providing a copy of this book for my review. All opinions expressed are, as always, my own.
