Christina Baker Kline's Orphan Train is a title that I've had on my TBR since it came out. In fact, I had to go back and look at it for a while to make sure I hadn't already read it. Somehow this one managed to slip through the cracks.
Molly is a teenager with a troubled past. She's in foster care and has to complete community service hours. Her assignment is helping an elderly woman, Vivian, clean out her attic.
Molly shows up for her job with Vivian and over time the two manage to get through many of the boxes in the attic. However, they do more "rearranging" than actually getting rid of anything as they sift through items from Vivian's past.
Kline's second story line takes place in the past as readers follow an orphan train full of young children needing to be adopted. It is quickly apparent that one young girl on the train is Vivian, although she goes by a different name. Her story is not a happy one as she lives in several homes before finding a set of parents who care for her.
Molly and Vivian form a friendship of sorts and it is easy to see some parallels between their lives. I loved the portions of the book set in the present featuring both of these women, and despite knowing how this story would resolve, loved reading it for myself.
Orphan Train is a book club favorite and a book I've heard many people discuss. I've read Kline's other books and enjoyed those as well, although Orphan Train has garnered more attention than her previous novels. Kline will be publishing another novel, A Piece of the World (see tomorrow's WoW post) this spring that I am excited to read as well.
Thanks to TLC Book Tours for providing a copy of this book for my review. All opinions expressed are, as always, my own.

I have this book on my Kindle, but have not made the time to read it as yet. I keep meaning to. I liked the idea of the two women sorting through the attic and sharing their stories. Read a book by this author a long time ago that I can't quite recall the name. I liked it though. I know this one has been very popular.
It was a book club choice last year and I was happy to read it, I was impressed and I enjoyed the history and modern coming together.
This one slipped through the cracks for me as well - I can't believe I haven't actually read it yet!
Thanks for being a part of the tour.
