I'll Meet You There

I might be a 40-something mom, but somewhere inside of me there is still a teenage girl who loves a good romance.

I'll Meet You There by Heather Demetrios is a great young adult romance.

When Sky graduates from high school she is excited to think that she will be getting out of Creek View - a place where those who stay live in double wide trailers and work at the local gas station.

She'll be heading off to San Francisco to college - and a full scholarship to study.

Things seem planned out until her mother starts hanging around with a guy that's bad news after she gets fired from her job.  Sky tries to keep the family afloat financially, but it doesn't seem like anyone is looking out for Sky.

Except for Josh Mitchell who has returned from Afghanistan with his own demons, and without a leg.

The Josh Mitchell that Skylar remembers from high school is nothing like this Josh, who has grown up a lot and who is always there to support and protect Sky.

I liked the bad boy/good girl romance and wanted the two to find happiness with each other.  They've got a lot of challenges ahead  - especially with the nightmare Josh has come back from Afghanistan with.

I haven't read Demetrios' work before, but after finishing this novel, I promptly put a hold on her previous book at our library.

I think I have this one! It sounded good when I got it but then forgot about it. You are always a few books ahead of me.
