It's What I Do: A Photographer's Life of Love and War

Lynsey Addario's passion in life is photography and she has traveled the world, sharing with others the people she has met and their stories through her photographs.

When 9/11 happened, Lynsey's career was just beginning.  Over the past decade and a half Lynsey has been kidnapped twice and reported on nearly every major war-  and allowed people to get a glimpse of the human side of the countries affected by war.

Photography is what Addario does.  Photography is her passion, her calling, the thing she wakes each morning to pursue. Relationships have ended because of this, and time spent in New York with her family is precious, but happens only once each year.    As a mother, Addario struggles with the price her son is paying for her frequent absences.  And yet, Addario is called to photography, to help others' stories be told.  She has been blessed with a husband who supports her passion and pursuit of it.

It's What I Do is a memoir which include beautiful, hearbreaking photographs of the people and stories Lynsey has told.  It is an inside look at the dangerous places Addario has seen and lived and gives a firsthand perspective of someone who knows her subjects personally.

Addario lives a life of adventure, so different from my own. And yet in her memoir she revealed a woman I felt as though I knew and could be friends with.  Her photographs tell a story all their own, yet her writing is also impeccable.
