Blast From the Past

Back in March 2004 these are a few of the titles I was reading.  Interestingly, my reading was rather sparse - less than ten titles for the month.  I am sure this was due largely to the fact that I had two small children.  

Blindsided by Richard Cohen - I know I chose this book simply because Cohen is married to Meredith Viera.  I appreciated his honesty in writing about his health issues and his relationship with his wife.

Name All the Animals by Alison Smith - a memoir - Smith loses her brother Roy when she was just fifteen and he was eighteen.  My memories of this are vague, and aside from recalling that Smith had a hard time conforming and following the rules at her Catholic Girls school, I just remember how much I liked reading it.  Even just seeing the cover again, the overall feeling is one of liking this memoir a great deal.

Confessions of a Tax Collector - a memoir where Yancey gives us an inside look into his job with the IRS as a tax collector. I don't remember details, but I do remember not understanding some of it. I wonder if I re-read it now after being alive for another decade if I would have had more life experiences and knowledge to really understand everything he writes about.

The Cape Light series by Thomas Kinkade and Katherine Spencer are such nice books....but even though they are borderline too nice, there are times when I like nothing better than to read something like that.  Cape Light is the first in this series, and even though I haven't read one in a while, I have read several in this series and always enjoy reconnecting with familiar characters that seem to be old friends as soon as I open the book.

Can You Keep a Secret?  by Sophie Kinsella- I pretty much like anything that Kinsella writes.  They are just fun, quick reads.  I'm anxiously awaiting another book from her right now.
