TLC Book Tour: Road to Paradise

A few weeks ago I was part of a TLC Book Tour for another of Paullina Simons' books, her memoir, Six Days in Leningrad.  I loved her memoir, and loved learning more about her life.

I hadn't read anything else by Simons until Road to Paradise arrived at my door.  And what I most feel the need to remark on is the fact that Simons writing is so amazing.

This is a road-trip story (I also have a soft spot for those).  Shelby is on the adventure of a lifetime, taking the vehicle her aunt bought her as a graduation present and leaving the only home she has known.

Along with her is friend Gina who already is changing Shelby's plans. Shelby's main goal is to find the mother who walked out on her long ago. But in addition to Gina, Shelby's plans are derailed further when they pick up a hitchhiker, Candy.

These three girls are unlikely friends, and the fact that they are on a trip together seems almost unbelievable.  Even though their roadtrip is long, I appreciated learning more about these girls and found the whole novel a great escape.

Now that I've read two books by Simons, I feel like she is an author whose work I will continue to look for. Her writing is easy to read, and pulled me in quickly in both cases.

Thanks to TLC Book Tours for a copy of this book and including me on their book tour. All opinions expressed are, as always, my own.

Books like this get me wanting to hop in a car with my own girlfriends and hit the road!

Thanks for being a part of the tour.
